It is now part of the administrative region of Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur. The traditional region of Provence comprises the departements of Var, Vaucluse, and Bouches-du-Rhone in addition to parts of Alpes-de-Haute-Provence and Alpes-Maritimes.
